Résumé
This research paper is a study on US foreign policy in the context of international relations during the post-Cold-War era. It deals with the issue of the Bosnian War as a case in point. US humanitarian military intervention in the war did not follow a straight forward policy. Yet, more than 3 years later, the US set its reluctance aside and took the lead of mobilizing NATO air-strikes, citing humanitarian reasons. This paper is an attempt to answer such questions: 1)What was the nature of US intervention in the Bosnian War? 2)Was it really humanitarian? 3)Why did the United States of America wait so long before mobilizing NATO to impose air-strikes, and why did the Clinton administration opt for military intervention in the Bosnian War? 4)What was the US purpose from involvement in the war of Bosnia? 5)And to what extent did the United States (and NATO) succeed in ending the conflict between the different ethnic groups (the Bosnian Muslims, the Bosnian Croats and the Bosnian Serbs) in Bosnia?
