Résumé
Studying the history of a political party enables us to understand different aspects of the society in which this party operates. My research work is an attempt to analyse and interpret the poor performance of the Labour Party from its origins. It highlights the ideological and organizational changes that the Party had undergone from its inception until the coming of Tony Blair as a party leader. Blair’s arrival at the leadership of the Party and his policy stance once in government in 1997 was initiated by a transformation in terms of embracing new forms of political discourse and policies. Therefore, this research paper could only turn into a reading of British politics, economy and society in the last century.
