It requires sub pixel match between common features in SAR image pairs. Thus coregistration, the alignments of SAR images from two antennas, is an essential step to obtain accurate results. The aim of this thesis is an implementation of an automatic image coregistration based on the correlation. First, the principles of image registration are reviewed, and the case of InSAR images is studied. Then an automatic InSAR image coregistration algorithm is designed. All the steps of the implemented algorithm are described and discussed. Such as the extraction of the information delivered with the images, the coarse coregistration using the acquisition geometry and the geometry of the radar, the automatic control points detection and their characteristics, the distribution of the control points, the automatic detection of their correspondences using fast correlation coefficient calculation, the selection of window size for tie point matching, the robust estimation of the transformation, the warping of the slave image and the interpolation. Finally, an evolution of the results and a comparison with results obtained by a professional software (SARscape ) is conducted. The datasets that are used to test and validate the implementation are SAR images of Algiers region acquired by RADARSAT-2 and ERS satellites.
