Résumé
Plants have formed the basis of sophisticated traditional medicine systems that have been in existence thousands of years and continue to provide mankind with new remedies. Approximately 60-80% of the world’s population still relies on traditional medicines for the treatment of common illnesses. The use of medicinal and aromatic plants species in Yemen goes back thousands of years, and form an important part of the culture, some of the plants traditionally still play important role in the health and body care system. This study aimed to evaluating antioxidant and antimicrobial activity and determine the nutrition value and phytochemical composition of some medicinal plant used Yemen in treatment diabetic. Eight Yemeni medicinal plants used in this study. Chemical composition of experimental plant were determined. The antioxidant activities of ethanol, methanol, water, hexane and ethyl acetate extracts of these plants were investigated spectrophotomericallyusing 1,1- diphenyl-2-picrlhdrazyl, hydrogen peroxide, ferric reducing power, and total antioxidant capacity methods. Total phenols, flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids were also determined using the standard methods.Plants extracts were tested for their antibacterial activity against seven different bacterial strains, one fungi and one yeast using method disc diffusion method. The results of this study showed that these medicinal plants were rich in nutrient composition and the important minerals that have biological benefits, it were also rich in phytochemical compounds. The plants have high antioxidant and antimicrobial against pathogenic microbes.
