Résumé
D.H.Lawrence is one of the most controversial and remarkable modernist authors. Yet, a number of critics such as Kate Millet in Sexual Politics (2000) and Simone De Beauvoir in The Second Sex(1956) accuses him of being macho. The aim of my dissertation is checking to what extent their accusations are right. I have chosen to analyse Lawrence’s autobiographical novel Sons and Lovers(1913).I will apply Sara Mills linguistic model. In her Feminist Stylistics(1995), Mills developed a linguistic model to detect anti-feminism and sexism in literary works.
