Résumé
Ever heard of the “something old, something new” tradition? This paper follows the same line in the way it espouses a relatively old text of literature with a fresh perception. Jane Austen’s acclaimed novel, Pride and Prejudice, takes on different readings as a genre to be analyzed. It also examinex the female/male duality closely and perceive how the gender factor affects every aspect of people’s lives. The paper aspires to resurrect learners’ interest in literature inside the classroom, to inspire them to consider different angles of interpretation, to encourage them to look at the many other new ways to read a two-hundred years old novel through the lens of gender, to get them to contemplate how gender reflects in Pride and Prejudice and how they could relate to it, and foremost to cultivate a spirit of inquisitiveness and a readiness to sail the uncharted paths of literary writings with unfailing enthusiasm.
