Résumé
The following work is an attempt to shed some light on the importance of explicit grammar teaching in improving the students’ writing skill in the written expression course. The work is divided into five theoretical chapters, a chapter for field work, and a one for recommendations. We started by viewing the definition of grammar and its different types to see how it was viewed by the different teaching methods, how to plan a grammar lesson and then its effects on language teaching. After that writing is introduced to understand the way it can be influenced by explicit grammar teaching. In the field work part the answers to the questionnaires administered to students and teachers are commented and analysed to finish with recommendations and a general conclusion
