Résumé
The present paper tries to analyze and find out about the real factors behind he segmental hindrances that the Algerian learners of English as a foreign language generally face. For instance, the confusion in the production of /t/ and /Ө/ , /d/ and/ð/,as well as the treatment of the velar nasal /ŋ/ as two consonants when it is middle or final in addition to the different realizations of the consonant r The paper also deals with the problems of long vowels reduction like /I:/ to/I/ and /u:/ to /u/……………..etc
