Résumé
Part A is an overview of the literature relevant to developing and evaluating communicative competence in foreign language learning. an attempt here is made to gain an understanding of this issuse as highlighted by researchers and theorists. major aspects of assessment and evaluation are singled out and theoretically discussed to serve as a platform to our research and as standards against which results obtained in part Care measured. Part B explains the research methodology we used in this work. PartC deals with the same issue discussed in Part A, but analysed though the perceptions of both teachers and learnes in the department of English at the University of Batna. The attempt here is to examine the possibilities to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Part D presents the recommendations drawn on the light of our research results. as thes recommendations concern the improvement of foreign language teaching/evaluating, and also suggest some innovations on the four-year term of training students follow at the level of our Department, they are evaluated and commented by secondary school teachers and their insspectors being the people directly concerned by the targeted reform
